Thumbnails come from pdf.js and the output is written with pdf-lib, both in this tab. Pages are copied across whole, so text stays selectable and nothing is re-compressed. With splitting off you get one PDF in the order shown, or just the pages you selected. With it on you get a file per page, per run of pages, per mark you place, or per range, zipped when there is more than one.
